‘Paradise Ain’t So Cheap’ is the impressive first track from LA duo Sour Face. The track isn’t exactly your standard piece of pop, kicking off with shifting electronic sound and complex timbres before allowing a the heavily-edited, Bon Iver-esque lead vocal of Dylan Bond to guide us through falsetto melodies. Bond explains that “there’s a lot of self-reflection happening during this time and a lot of different feelings are coming up. We’re just figuring out what’s worth holding on to and what we should be letting go of”. The dark-yet uplifting sound of Sour Face is something we look forward to hearing more of when they drop their debut EP. - Dan Peeke
